Can't scale photo

Can't scale photo

I am trying to use the scale tool to enlarge a photo. When I increase the size the photo enlarges, but when I click the scale button to photo goes back to the original size and there is now extra white space.

What could I be doing wrong?

The scale tool only enlarges a layer or a selection. To enlarge a whole image, use the "Image/Scale Image..." menu.

The scale tool only enlarges a layer or a selection. To enlarge a whole image, use the "Image/Scale Image..." menu.

That did the trick, thanks a bunch.
