About editing text layers

Greetings !

Did i understand correctly ?

If i create a text layer with the words "Hello World" and i wish to to make "Hello" bold and not "World"... with Gimp this would not be possible ! ( Which is counter intuitive even more for Photoshop users...)

So i need to have "Hello" in one text layer and "World" in another one ?!!!

Wow !

That's correct, as far as I know. The text editing function are due to receive a lot of work over the next development cycle, and I look forward to seeing this new functionality in action.

About editing text layers

As a workaround of a sort, you can create your text in Inkscape and import the SVG directly into your image with Open as Layer function.

Thats correct. In the current version you would have to make two seperate words. In the next release of GIMP (2.8) the text tool will be enhanced as you can see in this preview under step 4:
