oops...problem opening jpeg in Linux 2.6.8

Calling error for procedure 'file-jpeg-load': Procedure 'file-jpeg-load' not found

Opening '/home/gracia/NIKON-2010/COOLPLIX/FEB-16 Pat basketball/DSCN1882.JPG' failed:

Procedure 'file-jpeg-load' not found

Everything worked before I just upgraded & it seems to effect jpgs only

problem fixex downgraded to 2.6.7 & all is back to normal...it's a distro problem
