Is the a Gimp version that works with the new version of Apple X 11 ?

I have mac OS X 10.4.11 . I downloaded the appropriate version but it won't work with the new version of X 11. I called apple and they said I can't re-install the old version . If there anything I can do to make Gimp for me. I would love to make a donation if it will work for me .
