Gimp 2.6 -vista possible crash and fix

Somebody reported that after updating Vista to SP2 gimp abort when loading

Fix "if you right click on your shortcut to GIMP and go to the compatibility and then check Run this program in compatibility mode for: Then just about anything should work"

i report here because the cause of the crash was very hard to find

http://www.gimptalk.com/forum/help%C7%83-gimp-won%CA%B9t-load-filters%C7%83-t45201s25.html

and is possible that other Vista users will get a similar problem after updating the SP

This should never be necessary, and future versions of GIMP will have manifest which will override these settings. I am unable to reproduce the original problem on a fully patched 32bit Vista SP2.
