This scaling is specific to the tool used, Brush or Pencil for example. Thus you find it in the tool options.

Thanks, I figured it out. There is a brush icon for the active brush which, if clicked, brings up the 'brush dialog' which does not allow scaling (just spacing, whatever that does). If I double click the paintbrush icon in the tool box, a dialog box to which I am accustomed appears. I don't know if I have observed something new in 2.6.7 or if I've stumbled upon something I've never noticed before with the 'brush dialog'.

It is probably better to have always the options dialog on your screen, docked to the bottom of the toolbox. Nothing has changed about all this since version 2.4 and maybe before.

I agree with Caruso. I lost my brush sizing slider and had to come here to find out how to get it back, and I still don't like it. The new interface is terrible. It's extremely confusing and totally non intuitive. Now the scale slider comes out over stuff I don't want to see anyway and seems to be of really no value at all. and then the scaling slider disappears again. You have to keep double clicking on the brush tool and it's very aggravating. I don't understand how an alleged interface improvement can be such a step backwards.

Nothing has changed about all this I don't doubt what you are saying. What happens with me is that I install a
new version, then, if I inadvertently hit some button or close some dialog,
I'm never quite certain whether its disappearance is from me or if there is
some slight difference in the UI for the new version.

By the way I'm using 2.10.8 So maybe this doesn't even apply, but I have lost the slider that was always there before, and now it isn't, and don't have the slightest idea as to how to get it back the whole window on the right hand side is completely confusing. Is there a video of how to use it? Unintuitive user interfaces are not good.

I purged and reinstalled. It seems to be back to normal, but it shouldn't be necessary to approach the problem that way.
