GIMP Macro

Is it possible to record a macro (or script-fu) by recording a number of steps of a process you know you'll repeat for a number of images?

I needed to open dozens of images, change their image mode and apply a certain colorize setting to them and save them with certain settings. Not fun if you have to repeat the SAME process all over for each image.

I read about script-fu and got two commands setup but then it needed a name for image and I did not know how to specify it as such to use the active image.

Any help or pointers will be appreciated. Paul
