Using Gimp with Vista 64bit

Hi, I have not yet downloaded the Gimp Program because I have not been able to find anywhere that says it will run on a computer with Vista 64 bit operating system. It appears to be a wonderful program, especially since I can't afford Adobe & it appears to be comparible. But, I have downloaded other shareware type editing programs & they didn't work with 64bit Vista then had a hard time getting them out of my computer. Can someone please answer this question for me.........Thanks so much

Using Gimp with Vista 64bit

Hello Karen,
I don't know from my own experience if it'll work, but at least there's a specific package for x64 Windows here: http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html If you notice any problems that should not occur, please feel free to report them at http://bugzilla.gimp.org

Using Gimp with Vista 64bit

Hi Karen,

I am using Win XP64, which has similar compatibility problems. Programs frequently do not work on this platform. GIMP works well for me. Note that GIMP has been developed to work on many divergent platforms (Linux of many flavors, Windows), so care has been taken to ensure it is not platform-dependent. I use it on Linux, Windows XP, and Windows XP64.

Since The GIMP is small and free, you could give it a try with very little cost.

Using Gimp with Vista 64bit

I rum Gimp on 64 bit Vista myself, and have had no problems. The 4GB of RAM that a 64bit OS can read means that GIMP can store a larger history log, which is great news.

Just download from the link Daniel gave above, and you should be fine. Vista is more of a success on the 64 bit side than XP ever was.
