Try to go to Edit | Preferences (not File | Preferences - somewhat confusing) and change Window Manager Hints to 'normal window'. But I do believe there is an issue with the windows under Windows.

There was a larger change in the way Sript-Fu works between 2.2.x and 2.4.x. I had to rework my scripts too - the changes aren't too complicated to add. Check this:

BTW, going back to (or staying with) and older version is hardly a threat. You're just missing out on all the great new things the GIMP people work hard to add.

As mentioned before, change the preferences - or just press "tab" to hide the dialogs when you're not using them.

Well, thx John. I've just tried some "combination" and the problem seems to be solved. I will be sure tomorrow at the office - at home I try it on images on local HD. The problem appeared at the office, where I usually work on images saved to linux server volumes. But now I have new hope and some "how to" directions :)

No help here. I didn't feel any difference...

Well, there is no chance to help. I just have to change or modify some fixed behaviours. It will be easier to understand if U will know, that last 5 years I made about 30'000 pictures and maybe 100'000 simple operations. I REMEMBER that "Ok" button is in Right/Down Corner. In G 2.6.3 in this corner is "Cancel" button. So... after applying levels, curves, resolution or so... I just confirm operation by moving pointer over the right/down corner button, click and... "play it again, Sam" :D

But trully it is not big matter. After next 5 years I will move mouse to another button, and they will back to "old config" ;)

Yeah, this is proper info. Thanks. I need few days to refresh my knowledge about script-fu, but I see that there is important difference in using "let" operator and generally they change variables settings. I need one day and fresh brain and maybe I will manage with it. Today is late here and... I'm tired a bit.

Yes, I applied John's advice and it seems OK. But it is not dialog matter, but Windows Explorer window (file list in folder). Maybe tomorrow I will be able to re-call the problem and make screenshot wich will explain it better than my poor english.

Alt-0 (or sometimes Enter) when U use keybord to confirm. In some cases it is faster to use keybord, in some cases is faster to use mouse. But it is not big matter. I just wonder why? Why somebody change the buttons layout. Leaving buttons untouched costs nothing, so why did they put so big time to change the laayout?

The button order follows the system preferences (since GIMP 2.4). The UI designers of your operating system have chosen to place the confirmative button leftmost. GIMP, or rather GTK+, follows this preference and places dialog buttons according to the rules that all applications on your system should obey. You could of course change this by setting the "gtk-alternative-button-order" property in your gtkrc.

My everyday work is: 1) double click on existing .jpg file 2) make some retouching on picture, fix colors, geometry etc 3) when image is ready I would like script to do: a) scale image to 400 pxl height (perfect for target www) b) sharpen image (factor 40 - is great for my cameras) c) flatten image (than is ready for save .jpg) d) save file, exactly save, not save As - raw copy is still saved on camera flash card
e) close image

If somebody can help me I will be grateful to

I believe the most significant problem you were experiencing is that the action of flattening your image results in a newly created layer and all the original layers disappear; i.e., the original "Drawable" value that you were using in your 'file-jpeg-save' call was no longer valid after the script flattened the image.

My everyday work is:

It is not possible to perform step 3e) -- scripts can only close images which they themselves open or create. Images that are opened or created from the menus must be closed from the menus.

The updated script will result in the image being marked as saved, so that closing the image does not generate a warning about losing changes. I am not entirely comfortable about doing this because not ALL image changes are saved with the JPEG format and closing your image after running the script will result in the loss of some information -- e.g., any channels or paths you've created, as well as the degradation of the picture owing to JPEG's lossy compression. Nonetheless, given your work flow, it seems appropriate as long as you remain aware of this limitation. If you should prefer to still be warned about losing data then remove the line which calls 'gimp-image-clean-all'.

It is dificult to say.. I have seen syntax error, or... no action, but I believe U R right.

Lets say if it is impossible than I have to find a benefit... think... think... well, there is benefit: I have "undo" working and if something is wrong with a picture (i.e to heavy sharpen) I can go step back and make all things manually. Kind of final check out. In this point it will be better when displayed image is viewed 100% (1:1). It is one command... but I do not remember...

Your notes are very important, thank U. But I know the limitation of .jpg files. This way I make just for one puprpose: network preview of real estate, for example:
