Replacing colors

Hi all,
This is my first time ever to seriously start using GIMP.

I am a freelance TW at a new client and I am building a new (one-man) technical writing department around myself. Since budgets in the company are tight (like everywhere now), when I went shopping for apps, I was doing my best to opt for freeware.

My first task is to replacing colors in an image - like Find-Replace. First, how do you do a straightforward 'Replace Colors' op?

Second: my specific need is to convert a gray gradient to a similar one in a shade of red/pink.

Thanks in advance to all,

Regards, avraham ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Avraham Makeler Freelance Technical Writer ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hello!

The documentation http://docs.gimp.org/ is your friend: http://docs.gimp.org/en/plug-in-exchange.html http://docs.gimp.org/en/plug-in-gradmap.html
