want a transparent plain glass surface

Hi, any ideas on how to create a glass texture? I intend to use 50-70% opacity, to fuzz out whatever image is under my texture..

Not sure if this is what you're after, but have a look at http://www.home.unix-ag.org/simon/gimp/linuxtag2002/nette-effekte/plastic-text.html

maybe an online translator can help you.
