Have I missed a big change or is this a misleading error?

If it means cvs interface has been pulled , where are the instruction to set up svn?

You certainly don't missed the fact that we moved from CVS to Subversion, did you?

I posted them to the list when the change happened. There is also information at http://developer.gimp.org/svn.html.
