Options in blur filters

Hi all,

In several blur filters, we have the options "Use the selection as input" and "Use the entire layer as input".

I don't understand well these options. If I test "Use the entire layer as input" in Pixelize with a selection, I can see some slight differences in result, but I don't find, in result, colors that are in the layer outside the selection.

In my mind, in Pixelize, the color of a pixel is the mean of colors in the square it belongs to, and "use the entire layer as input" looks weird.

Can you enlighten me on this point?

Julien

Hi,

No answer to my question :-(

Nobody knows how "Use the the _entire_ layer as input" works?

Why not try to post it also on the -dev ml?

I know a joke about UDP, but you might not get it.

Eureka!

"entire layer" does not mean all the pixels of the layer, but only selection + the rest of the layer. Actually, this option works on selection border and uses near pixels in the rest of the layer to create the color of border squares, probably to create a gradual transition between the selection and the rest of the layer.
