Can I use textures made in GIMP for a project such as a game?

Hi,

Can I use textures that I make in GIMP, such as the using the cloud effect to make a grass texture, in a game that would be sold? The texture would be made without any photographs, would it still be ok to sell them with a game (The textures would be a part of the game)

Can I use textures made in GIMP for a project such as a game?

Go ahead! Any images that you make using the clouds generator, or other similar filters are entirely your property, so feel free to do what you want with them.

(If you wanted to use the source code of the filter, then that would be a different story, but just using the images is fine.)

P.S. note that IANAL.

Distributing GIMP brushes/patterns/whatever themselves under a different license is clearly not possible.

However, *images* made using them are of course your own artwork, you can do whatever you like.
