shaped angular gradient math

Hi. This is a purely educational question, but which file in the source code contains the formula / algorithm that decides how to paint your shaped angular gradients? I noticed that gimp allows you to a select any arbitrary area on the canvas and fit a gradient to it in Shaped mode, and I was curious what formula was used to calculate the point / color distribution. I downloaded recent source code, but I am admittedly rather lost, finding lots of gradient-related interface code but not what I am looking for.
