Pimp my GIMP
There is currently a proposal to change the heading of the 'Pimp my GIMP' section to something less controversal, as it may put off people with it's political incorrectness ("pimp").
I know that GIMP as well already gets people into arguments, but I think changing it to "Improve my GIMP" or something similar will simply increase the acceptance of the manual and lower the possibility for people feeling offended.
Any objections?

"Customizing GIMP". Boring, but delivers the message.

I am surprised. At least in the USA, the usage of "Pimp My" is in pretty common usage to mean "make something overtly / excessively fancy / gaudy". This is so widely used, that it had never occurred to me that someone might find it offensive. So...... I asked my wife, who said "I don't like the phrase", and my six year old said "what is a pimp?" I told her it was a mean horrible criminal who usually dresses very fancy to stand out.
No objections...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pimp_My_Ride is probably the insiration for the title. Interestingly, the Wikipedia article lists no controversies about their use of that title (only legal threats by Viacom against other businesses using the "Pimp my..." slogan).
Just to make sure, this isn't an attempt by someone who was involved in a GIMP name discussion to gather some leverage through the back door?

I don't see any issues with the current title. In spanish should be translated as "Tunea mi GIMP", and I guess other languages can have a word for "pimp" or its synonyms (tune, improve).

Yes I think so too.

Nope. A good friend - Jan Smith - which made that suggestion to me. I think it's a valid point and should be discussed.

Google translate suggests "proxeneta". A pimp is a person who controls/procures prostututes; to pimp someone out is to dress them up so that they look like a whore. Given that the word "gimp" is in there, I don't think there's anything that can be done to make the phrase inoffensive, so "pimp my gimp ready for tricks" seems fine to me. For that one I got, "chulo mi gimp listo para prostituirse" which is even more awesome.

I always assumed that to "pimp" something was referring more to the gaudy way that pimps dress themselves. As an example, search google for "pimp images". It never once occurred to me that it was referring to the girls. Can't say as though I have seen many pimps or prostitutes, but the few prostitutes that I have seen were rather scary looking (as in run away so you don't catch something).
While your thinking about words, however, remember that the word gimp is an offensive word for a physically handicapped or lame person. Very few people know that there are other definitions. As such, I have caught flak for the term GIMP (not that I would advocate changing the name).
