GIMP and the GNU/Linux Operating System

Hello,

we at the GNU Education Team are preparing a report on GIMP, so we are going to link to gimp.org. We have noticed that on the downloads page the instructions read "GIMP for Linux". We were wondering if you would care to change that to "GNU/Linux" since it would be difficult to install GIMP on the kernel alone?

Thanks!

GIMP and the GNU/Linux Operating System

I'm not a web dev but I don't see what you're talking about. I see "Source for version 2.6" but no "GIMP for Linux".

To me "Source for version 2.6" makes sense because there is a drastic difference compiling GIMP against Linux kernels 2.4 or lesser vs. 2.6 or say the 3.0 kernel. I searched for the text Linux and could only find one instance of it on the page.

Though I'm viewing the downloads page from a Windows machine. I'll have to wait to get to work and see what the downloads page looks like from a Linux client.

Yes there is, see

Go to the download menu

You can use the "Show other downloads" link to display the sections for all platforms.

Thanks Michael,
Yeah I realize that now. I'm on my GNU/Linux machine at work and the mentioned download section shows up.

Is the automatic update working again? The last time I committed something, it was still on manual mode.

No. I read it hours ago. Maybe you have the old version in your cache?

I don't know what page you are looking at. Just to make it clear, the page we are talking about is this (visited from a GNU/Linux machine):

http://www.gimp.org/downloads/

And there it still says "GIMP for Linux". Not a cache issue.

This issue should solved by now. Let me know if there's still something wrong.
