I found this:

from the Tab menu in any dockable dialog by clicking on and selecting Add TabSample
Points.

That's ok. Placeholder tags are a xml2po feature. Just translate the string as usual and make sure that you place the (verbatim) placeholder tag at its proper position.

We are using a patched version of xml2po, where some placheholder tags (especially those representing text inside of text) are removed, which hopefully simplifies translating po files. But in this case the placeholder *is* useful IMHO, because it makes the msgid smaller and easier to read and translate -- the placholder represents no translatable text. (It should better be named"", though.)
