Remove zoom tool...

I wanted to ask if "removing" the zoom tool, from the toolbox to some new place(for the new UI) was something you devs plan to do, if you didn't hear this before, i find the zoom tool not usefull, as is better a single button(+,-) in some part of the GIMP window, because clicking 2 times in order to zoom in or out(and therefore, changing from zoom in to zoom out, would require a lot effort) for something that can be more easy to do, i find myself afected my workflow when i'm doing some photomanipulation.

Remove zoom tool...

Pro tip... ctrl+mousewheel = zoom, regardless of which tool you are using.

using a pen tablet(though i can use scrollwheel but works strange on GIMP, better 2 simple buttons)...

thanks anyway =) i insist in this possibility.

Discuss it please! Simple implementation = more workflow

Maybe it's just me, but just because you don't find a tool useful doesn't really warrant outright removing it. You can always just remove it from the toolbox yourself...

Also, with the Zoom tool you can just use click and drag to define a specific area that is zoomed into so it fills the window - how would you propose to do that otherwise? (Using the select tool and some kind of "Zoom to selection" function isn't an option, as it destroys any selection you have...)

Are you aware that you can already select for yourself what tools are shown in he toolbox and what not? In 2.6 that is done via Tools dock. You can open it from Window menu and disable any tools you never use.Ive removed zoom and several others.

Are you aware of the navigation Dialog?

http://docs.gimp.org/en/gimp-navigation-dialog.html

If you dock that (I keep it in a dock along with FG/BG colour, Histogram, and Error console) it give you 1 click buttons for zoom out, zoom in, zoom all, zoom full, and fit window to zoom, which all work great using a tablet (which I use, too).

Remove zoom tool...

Luis Diego:
Yo can remove it yourself when you want. Just go to (assuming your GIMP is in spanish, your name looks spanish to me :-) "ventanas > Diálogos empotrables > herramientas" and you can activate/de-activate any tool in the toolbox, including the zoom tool. Despite what a lot of people say, GIMP UI allows a lot of customization. So it has no point to discuss about the default workspace when you can change it so easily.
