Gimp-docs Digest, Vol 56, Issue 9

Subject: Re: [Gimp-docs] Cygwin and po, second steps

julien, how did you install docbook 4.5? Maybe I can replicate the setup on cygwin. If there are not too many files to copy, I can do it manually.

I am working under OpenSuse-11.0 : dockbook-4.5 IS installed...

Julien, I meant, can you describe the layout of your 4.5 install so that I can replicate it on my machine until Cygwin teams provides the package? I don't know if I can install opensuse package for docbook on cygwin, but I would like to have a working system.

Sorry, I can't tell you that. Under opensuse, we have an automatic system to update programs, and for new programs, we have a One-Click install system. So, I don't know how and when docbook-4.5 was installed. But this would no longer be a problem if everybody agree removing the sections in xml files. I'll do that for every file I'll will update.

Vitaly, if you understand spec files I can send you my DocBook-4.5 spec file I used to install 4.5 on SuSE Linux 9.3.

[x] agree
[ ] don't agree

If you are talking about dtd file, I have. If something else, then sure, I'll have a look

... but I can't explain this particular difference. I tried touch src/using/docks.xml &&
make -f Makefile.GNU po/de/using/docks.po and get
grep -B1 'See also' po/de/using/docks.po msgid ""
"See also Dialogs and Docking"

so here's no such difference.

Which gettext version do you use? Maybe different gettext versions produce different output? (I have gettext-0.17 installed.)

I use 0.17-3

If I commit this, people will think I am a prolific writer :) and the ChangeLog will not reflect the work I actually did. Any suggestions? I am aware that I can update individual po files with some Makefile magic, but how can I build the html and avoid the problem described?

Hmm, I do not work directly on the SVN working copy, instead I have another copy on "/tmp" and commit only files I have edited. But we can't expect everybody to work this way, so it seems that we really have a problem here...

Now that I know, I can work in temp. That mean, thogh, I need to have a complete copy of gimp so that html can be built. That's a pain to maintain.

Gimp-docs Digest, Vol 56, Issue 18

I have added some new targets to Makefile.GNU:

awesome

I also changed making of HTML previews (drafts), now make [-f Makefile.GNU] preview-xml/xx/path/to/xmlfile.xml will produce a single HTML file (remember that links can't work in those draft HTML files),

I tried that (for ru/concepts/concepts.xml), it worked, and got the page with white text on white background. Is it because css is not linked?

What's wrong with white text on white background?? You will never have to worry about typos... ;-)

Ok, if you really want to know what's going on:

First check stylesheets/*.css and html/ru/*.css.

The preview commands should unconditionally copy the CSS files. Try
make ... VERBOSE=2
then you should see
...
cp -f ./stylesheets/*.css ./stylesheets/${lang}/*.css\ ${destdir} 2>/dev/null; \
...

You can change the above copy command to "cp -f -v ..." and remove the " 2>/dev/null" (but not the semicolon) from the command to produce more output.

Bye,
Ulf

Forget my last email, I've got it (when I remembered that the dark backround for previews is an image, not a color): obviously I removed the code to create the html images directory when I changed the preview stuff.

Workaround: "make [-f Makefile.GNU] html/ru/images" should create the images directory if necessary and a link html/ru/images -> ../../xml/ru/images.

I will add the missing code to the Makefiles and a fallback to the stylesheet.

Bye,
Ulf
