strange tooltip meaning

On the Filters -> Distorts -> Lens distortion... menu, the tooltip over the Lens distortion says "Corrects lens distortion".

Isn't this a mistake ? I am expecting that a distortion filter *distorts*, not corrects.

Hm ?

Hi,

It works in both directions: it can be used to create lens distortion or fix it.

The filter can be used for both. It can simulate lens distortion. And it can also be used to correct lens distortions. From what our users say, it appears that most people are using it to correct lens distortions.

It would be cool if someone wrote a GIMP plug-in based on the LensFun project (http://lensfun.berlios.de/). That would probably be more useful when it comes to correcting lens distortions.

I seems to recall having pointed out a couple of years back that this should be on the enhancement menu.

If that's what most ppls are doing with it, that would seem to substanciate my comment.

In either case the tooltip probably should be corrected to indicate "simulates or corrects lens distortion".
