This download is obsolete. You can find a list of current downloads on our download page.
Product:GIMP
Version:2.8.0
Platform:Mac OS X

There are no official GIMP builds for Mac, but there are various inofficial sources.

From GIMP 2.8.2 on, official Mac build will be available.

partha.com

Here you can get a native version of GIMP 2.8 (doesn’t need X11). You need Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or higher. It has some of the most important plugins preinstalled.

Installation: Go to partha.com, look for “McGimp 2.8” in the sidebar and download it (ZIP file). Once downloaded, uncompress the archive and drag the resulting app into your Application folder. That’s it.

gimp.lisanet.de

gimp.lisanet.de offers packages which have satisified many users. The packages require X11.

Different packages are available for:

  • Mac OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion)
  • Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion)
  • Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard)

Installation: Download the .dmg package and install it like any other application.

Trying to figure out where to put .scm files. Specifically, one that draws astronomy borders with info about the image, and an eg high pass filter. Because this method of dragging and dropping means there is no obvious gimp hierarchy tree with relevant scripts directory.
